Watch what you tell yourself, you’re likely to believe it. – Russ Kyle
Mind chatter, inner voice are verbal thoughts that
construct the idea of the Self, strengthens illusion of an individual person.
The validity of the inner voice is never questioned, it is believed it to me,
I, my voice it comes from my body. The inner voice reflects beliefs, fears,
hopes, ideas, and opinions of a person who considers the voice to be their own
thinking. These thoughts created through generations of human conditioning and
sustained by the illusionary Self. The constantly talking mind is narrating
stories, opinions, and exaggerations and manipulating distorting realities.
Typically, ego is fearful of loss, failure, being
hurt, non-existence and death. Identifying with the chatter the being starts to
live in a fictional modality believing in the narrative in the head. The ego,
tricks us into believing that our thoughts are one hundred percent true.
Controlled by the very loud compelling voice, inner critic, and bullying brings
self-doubt and negative self-perceptions, paranoia, panic attacks and choices
made out of fear. The ego never ceases to stop telling stories reliving the
past, agonizing family ties, sins, guilt, victimhood, and imaging and building
the next story for the next experience. The self is completely consumed caught
in the chatter, living the egoic dream searching for happiness -like being
sucked down into quick sand.
Part of me
suspects that I'm a loser, and the other part of me thinks I'm God Almighty.― John
Lennon
A good movie is one which grasps attention of the
audience. They identify with the characters feel their pain and pleasure. Similarly, story in the head identifying with
egoic characters monologue, dialogue or multilogue. The melodrama, every word
will “seem real” and “feeling the emotions”.
When the limited self realizes that it is a figment
relentlessly working towards a foolish and hopeless search for or pursuit of
something unattainable. Having wasted a whole life being religiously loyal to
the character in the story of “my life” to know it does not exists would be terrifying
to the ego mind. Becoming a yogi, a spiritual quest, austerities, and practices
is yet another story, voice in the head, an egoic pursuit. Mind is a story
chatting machine. A life under the influence of mind chatter is disconnected
from divine source and wisdom.
We must go
beyond the constant clamor of ego, beyond the tools of logic and reason, to the
still, calm place within us: the realm of the soul.-Deepak Chopra
Effective way of quieting the mind is connecting to
the silent truth within. It would take courage to go beyond fiction stepping
into neutral state not adding more thoughts, even analytical ones, or good
intentions to the mind. Not analyzing
thoughts but becoming aware and shifting from identification to watching the
mind behavior, thinking and generating emotions. It is like being aware the
whole time that it is just a movie you are watching. Distancing and observing
creates gaps between thoughts and they appear as clouds against background of
the stillness of the sky. This opens up a new dimension of perceiving and revelation of
true nature of true self i.e, eternal love. As purification continues there is
falling away old thought patterns and freedom from inner critic and ego.
As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. You’re not thinking about loving; you’re just being love, radiating like the sun.-Ram Dass
May all beings derive the capacity to become self-aware and self-realized ! 🙏
